Netherlands University Decisions Congratulations

We just wanted to take a moment to say how immensely proud we are of our students that applied to schools in the Netherlands, decisions are here! All those hours you spent researching programs, studying for tests, double-checking your applications and sitting for matching—and now, here you are: admitted to a Dutch university! 🇳🇱🎓

Some of you are heading off to cities like Amsterdam, Leiden, Utrecht, Groningen... places with world-class institutions, cobblestone streets, and bikes everywhere! Now that the acceptance emails are rolling in, I thought I’d share a quick overview to help you (and maybe your parents!) understand what exactly you’ve achieved—and what’s coming next.

💡 You Got Into a Dutch University — That’s a Big Deal!

Admission into undergraduate programs in the Netherlands isn’t just “sign up and go.” Many of these programs—especially those taught in English—are very selective, with acceptance rates as low as 4% for international students!

For those of you who applied to selective programs—congratulations x2! You tackled applying to a numerus fixus program, Latin for “fixed number”, and it’s the Dutch way of saying… “We only have a limited number of seats, and we’re choosing students through a national selection process.” After applying, you were ranked based on criteria like grades, motivation, tests, interviews, or all of the above. You received your ranking number yesterday, and if your number was within the available seats—🎉 you got the offer!

🧭 What Comes Next?

  1. Weigh your options and accept your offer!

  2. Start preparing documents (diplomas, final transcripts, visa application for non-EU folks).

  3. Figure out housing ASAP—especially in cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht where demand is sky-high.

  4. Celebrate! You earned this!!
